The house is there
inside my dreams.
Do I live in it
Or does it live in me?

It dreams me inside it
roaming the halls
climbing the stairs
pushing locked doors.

Or do I dream the puzzle
unraveling my errors
like pulling out braids
and combing my hair?

Whatever the truth
this house haunts me still.
Do others dream like this,
My question for you.

I'm such a fan of Carl Jung, and yes, I have "house" dreams very often.

And nodding, always with "potential."

I read you often iliana. I should tell you that more often too.

Loved this. It opened a door.

Illie...I wish I had dreams like this....I have dreams like I'm a school desk and some little prick is carving his initials on my back?.....(It's from those old hippie days I'm sure...all those different colored pills and such)....guess that's why I'm a Toerag though....

well, how can I follow THAT response???? ha!
I have bad dreams of a house I once lived in, where I desperately need to lock the door and I can't do it.  And then I have dreams of a huge house in which I love to wander.  ~K~

Definately! There are many who dream of this. But there is a way out, it just takes a long time. I am still within these tormenting walls. Do not feel alone.

My son used to have a recurring "cowboy nightmare" until we had a few little talks about how nightmares are just images that are controlled and sometimes mixed up within our minds.  I told him that since he had control or his mind, he had control of his dreams--All he had to do was re-write the cowboy plot.  He did.  He blew the green cowboy away (with air), down the hill and into the creek, never to be seen again.  Interesting poem, question, and responses.  You really involve the reader.

iliana, I too like how you've involved the reader with this.  I've enjoyed reading the other comments about one more thing so many of us have experienced.  ~K~

Thank you all dear poet friends.  I was curious to see if others had dreams like this.  Through the years my house dreams have changed.  First, they were haunting in a bad way, and now they haunt in a beautiful way.  Also, the houses have changed -- starting with my grandmothers', then my mother's, and now picking out one of my own, and even that one has changed over the years.
