There once was a mouse that roared
Sending the cat away backward,
“I am the bravest”
Said he puffing out his chest
To be captured my an eagle that soared

Hm... Somewhere back in the 60's or 70" there was a book entitled The Mouse that Roared.  Had you read it?

  Loved the witty limerick.

Reply has a lot from reading Terry Pratchett

Eagle soared and spun
Attention had begun
The mouse enoyed a striking flight
And on the land
Mouse did alight
