The air is soft this morning, with dawn just at the rim of a new day, as if the desert has been walking through the night with Allah (Blessed be His Name) sharing thoughts of love and life before the daily fire of the sun bends us all down to the wheel of task and strife; I am awake early, and at peace within the calming sound of my wife's quiet breathing in her sleep; I have no secrets to keep, I am the simple servant of a holy man; this gift of service is a blessing for it lends purpose to my life within the passions which seem always to consume the world, for I am a simple man, without politics or theories on how to acquire wealth or power; I wish I could stay here longer, beneath the gentle shower of my woman's love... the sound, the sound I know too well, I hear it grow now far above me, swiftly ripping high pitched trill, now I know there will be death this day, more raw wailing and fresh tears, the living future changed forever in the name of peace they say; it wears me out each day to live within these fears... louder, louder now, I reach quietly to hold her hand; it will rain Hell somewhere close again this day, fear never makes it go away, I wait, there is no way to know who will die t ©2004 by icebox |

In the name of Allah (Blessed be His Name) Destruction has been wrought, The worse part is that it is not the spirit of the Koran. Not that this is anything new to these times and places, The crusades come to mind. If we’d all be happy with that which is about us Sharing to the needy, comforting the distraught And … This is a difficult topic to maintain While the thought of genocide remains in the combatants aims. When the belief is the first to lay down the gun Is shot by the other. In the name of Allah (Blessed be His Name) If more were like this poem We’d all be better. A thoughtful piece Gloom |

Box I stand and applaud, you have captured both love and fear in this poem, two of the things that seem to puzzle we humans most in life... Excellent writing!... ______ice ><> |

Sadly our world is filled with fear and death. From reading your thoughts and having my own fears, I long for the serenity of peace in our world. The fear that grips children by the throat must be overwhelming if it touches adults so strongly. Blessings for peace on us all. Hugs, Marti |
