(Here is my huge anti-war response on the painful memory of the first anniversary since the war on Iraq began. All I can say is I will never be affliated with any war, anyhow, anywhere, anyday, anytime, by any reason, and I can only pray you all still believe and share in the philosophy that war only breeds more hatred, more harm in the world. Let us pray for the more than 10,000 Iraqi civilians killed in this war, not to mention the hundreds of our and other nations troops! )

So You See, Mr. President
By: Noah Eaton
3/20/04

Though I know you'll turn your head,
though I know you just don't care,
there is something I've been meaning to say,
though you'll listen not now, now today...

There's an ache deep down in my heart,
not of hatred, but of shame,
the pity I feel for you,
for playing each one's Name

Each day you remind us to be afraid,
but I'm just too lazy to hear such things,
and I am not, and will not be,
so let me enjoy this equinox, if you please...

And be advised it's not your Pandora's Equinox,
which I graze the soils with,
it is that of love,
and brotherly fellowship.

"Let me say at the risk of seeming ridiculous,
that the true revolutionary is guided by great feelings of love. "
Perhaps you are rolling your eyes now,
or chuckling in drips of condescension that that's unheard of.

I am not here to live by your expectations,
and it's obvious you won't by mine.
But before you go continuing your game,
I pray beyond all reason you'll listen this time.

I believe in a thing called love,
forgiveness is my weapon of choice,
love is not meant to be questioned,
or silenced of its voice

And I will not assign-seat forgiveness,
in the back strapped to the baby seat,
forgiveness is my shotgun,
and love is my chauffeur on duty.

And I ain't gonna buy that bull,
that "two wrongs make a right",
especially when you declare war,
but it's the young who fight and die.

Oh, so sorry if I'm holding back your schedule,
like your hot date with Halliburton,
oh, excuse me if I'm interrupting your meal at Fort Campbell,
I know you're there to eat your chicken.

I do not wish for you to choke on the bone,
I want you to choke on the truth,
cause the truth is always the first to die,
when war slips on its cold black boots.

War may be delightful to those,
who haven't experienced their terrors,
who haven't ran through the rubble,
who haven't screamed in demisemiquavers

Freedom is exposing yourself to the light,
for darkness cannot oust darkness,
just as hatred doesn't resolve hatred,
only love is the path that's righteous

War is nothing but a coward's Family Feud,
that never welcomes a mediator,
full of blind rage, stupidity and callousness,
and irresponsible murder.

There'll never be a justified war,
or never a bad peace,
I choose to be charged with treason to you,
then be charged to treason for the good of humanity

For a true friend is someone,
who grants you full freedom to be yourself,
therefore I cannot accept you as my president,
until you wisen up and share the wealth

Wake up and smell the sagebrush, cowboy,
the era of western films is finished,
the world is not a shooting range,
or a Clint Eastwood or Wyatt Earp premise

You call it a day of deliverance,
yet where's the charity, where's the gift?
We make a living by what we get,
but we live by what we give

I WILL NOT TAKE PART IN FINISHING,
WHAT OTHERS HAVE STARTED,
I WILL NOT PLAY WHO'S RIGHT AND WRONG,
FORGIVENESS IS MY ONLY INTEREST

So don't try and tuck your hands in your sleeves,
to mask the blood on your hands,
stop manufacturing fear like a Madison Avenue factory,
and leave the children stranded in a world so sad

So don't expect any NASCAR tailgate party,
or Lee Greenwood national anthem to have me baptized,
for true patriotism comes from the heart,
for the love of all our brothers and mankind

You cannot defend freedom abroad,
when you're deserting it here at home,
so look out your mansion window,
and listen to all those folks

If you seek freedom with bullets and malice,
you can never be a true believer in peace,
so stop playing God, stop playing a dictator,
and don't leave the dove to secede

So now, with my voice raised on maximum,
please look me in the eye,
and tell me why, tell me why,
why this scrimmage of firefights and lies?

I speak here out of tears,
as compassion is where I'm weak at the knees,
I expect you to answer with vertinence,
so behind that mask I can see any sign of grief

So you see, Mr. President,
I have much more important things to do,
then pour iodized salt into your bloodbath,
and listen to your backbiting, libeling mass-produced subterfuge

So you see, Mr. President,
I know you have no response, and all I can say,
is I will have nothing to do with your charades,
"Not In My Hands, Not In My Name"
.
.
.
.
.
Excuse me, Mr. Pres...
(Uh, I mean...Bush),
the spring is calling me,
ta-da!

Okay, wow... hmm.. very strong. I fully agree with you.  I find the war petty myself and wish there were other ways to resolve such conflicts, unfortunately there is a Republican in office and concerns at home are non-existant, thank you Bush, the poor people now have to PAY taxes.  You're right my friend, the spring does indeed call.  au revoir

Very potent, Noah.  I agree that we're all in this world together and should try to work things out through love.  Unfortunately,we all do not play by the same rules, or lack of.  It is right to voice one's beliefs.

"I believe in a thing called love,
forgiveness is my weapon of choice,
love is not meant to be questioned,
    or silenced of its voice"

"Freedom is exposing yourself to the light, for darkness cannot oust darkness,
just as hatred doesn't resolve hatred,
only love is the path that's righteous."

I especially liked these in any reference.

Awwwwww, thanks for your comment! I do admit this is quite a poignant piece, probably thunderous to the ears of some!

Then again, I just simply don't care what others think, or if others think I'm appeasing the terrorists or am unpatriotic simply for reasoning that war is not the answer. It is so very sad seeing even one person believe in violence to settle diplomatic issues. There is little I can do alone as a sole individual to change the world with the other peacekeepers, but I also believe there is nothing they can do to make me believe peace can be achieved with a bayonet.

I have said this so many times already that I can't believe I have to repeat it, but here goes. I do support the troops, as they are courageous, brave and compelling young men and women who show true honor for their countries and have the heart to do the tasks the political cowards can't do themselves.

I also was saddened by 9/11, 3/11 and all the tragedies in-between, as I don't think anyone can possibly argue that it is hard to understand how some people can be so cold-blooded and harm the lives of innocent others. Terrorism is a bad thing indeed, but any war of any size anyone wagers is terrorism in itself. al-Qaeda and the Taliban and those other groups are just as uman as we are, and I am sure like us they are desperately searching for something, and if only we can have a leader rule with love and try to mediate the issues out, finally we can come to a resolve. War only creates unsolved questions and unheard answers, which history has proved time and time and time and time and time and time again, and will only multiply until one finally has the heart to say war solves nothing.

Finally, I don't think Bush alone is responsible for 100% of the war and all, but I am saying as president, one should be able to read between the lines and fall within reason, and Bush's irresponsibility is a central part of the current mess. And in my book at least, an irresponsible one doesn't deserve to rule.

Thank you all, let us pray, and God Bless You!

Sincerely,
Noah Eaton

Smiling at that line, 'tis so true, Noah.
Unfortunately, I don't think that man will ever wake up to see the same vision of the world that your eyes focus on so willingly.
I am also a believer that peace will never be the end result of war, and wish that all of humanity would learn the art of non-violent negotiation and compromise. Until then, we seem to be doomed to continue the same circular deadly paterns.

Awwwwwwww, thanks Kacy and Michele, I really appreciate your encouraging comments!

There was indeed a satirical aspect to this poem. The ending is where I give up cause Bush is so stubborn, and you may have noticed also I do not address him as "President Bush" anymore (not that he ever was our president, losing by 540,000 votes! ). The fact that Bush yesterday said that the war on terrorism is "inescapable" is living proof I doubt he'll come to understand ever what peace is. Bush is no peacekeeper and at this rate never will be, very sadly.

Please pray with me and hope we can get some new leadership come November. Though Kerry doesn't seem like my ideal leader in my visions, anyone but Bush will do!

Sincerely,
Noah Eaton

Amen Noah.

I remember though a time when Mother Thersa was asked to march against the Vietnam war. Her reply was no.

She explained -

To march AGAINST anything only brings energy to what is focused upon. She went on to say that if they ever organized a march for peace...she would be there...first in line.

I think the difference between then and now...is that we truly have an oppurtunity to stand FOR peace.

Thank you Noah for being such a leader for this movement and moment.

Love,
Eric

Glad to see you express your feelings, Noah. Sadly, war has been here since time began. Jesus said (in MAT) that in the last days there shall be wars and rumors of war... war shall increase. But He also commanded us to pray for peace and to love one another. Thanks for reminding me of that command.

Noah, I admire the strength of your convictions and how you fearlessly voice them and stand up and be counted. You are proactive regarding your beliefs and do not hide behind anything or anybody. Whether people agree with you or not, they have to admire how you speak your mind! I love your passion about things that mean a great deal to you!

Peace, Light, & Harmony,
EA
