Moved from a shack to a barn

Charlie was an artist,
a painter of no small talent

One, who favored painting portraits
of the old, the discarded,
and the no longer useful

His subjects all wore the patina of age
and bore the lines and creases
that bespoke tales of long journeys

And always, he endeavored
to capture the personality of each,
and worried that their character
might not shine through the glaze

But, Charlie was an artist of no small talent
that loved painting pictures of old boots

And I wonder now, where Charlie will be
when my feet no longer need mine

STOP!

No...

start once more,
that you might paint one more portrait.

You did Charlie, so very well.

Hi Ed

I hope that he paints your boots with your wiggling toes in them.  Enjoyed this portrait!  Hugs!

If your characters aren't real, you sure make them feel like they are Ed.  Enjoyed the read...

The first check is whether you are alive, then your boots then your wallet

If 3 you are alive

If 2 the European Union has decreed recycling is mandatory
