Onion Pie, Otis and Me

~~*~~

I've always wondered how Onion Pie tasted.
Felt I could sway Chanson to provide.
Made my delicious puff pastry and sauce,
And towards the northeast, an hour did ride.

I bundled in warmth, after oil refill,
Needing a charge first, then some air in the tires.
Begged with my eyes, to a stranger for help.
As I learned "self sufficient", the day's words of desire.

Said he knew who I was as he pressured the air.
I pretended to know nothing, wanting to learn.
I suppose each supplied each with smiles for the moments
Me, of my thanks, and he, friendship's earn.

On my way driving, the cold aired my thoughts.
Leaving me wishing, I'd rested the more.
My eyes did my talking to head, forming pictures
From poetry rhyming I'd read just before.

I make my own music when driving a distance,
The thoughts and the songs becoming my own.
The old and the new exchanging their presence.
Before I knew it, I'd arrived as if flown.

I unloaded my baggage and foodstuffs to settle
Before we began to tackle the pies.
She began slicing the onions, then crying.
Their strength a bit much, for her deep blue of eyes.

So we helped until finished, with cheese sliced and added
Then butter in dots and a crust, topping all.
Into the oven, the baking proceeded
I waited, till smell of it began to call.

Hmmmm, never believed could be so delicious,
An old recipe made of onions and cheese.
Sharing the day/night with Chanson and family
A presence of warmth, slipping into with ease.

Thanks Chanson...(had this hiding *s)

Misplaced among the onion skins, no doubt.
I'm liking this one, and even though I'm full
from lunch?  You've got me ready for a slice
of that pie.

Send recipe.

And thank YOU for the delicious sauce. In fact, I have a box of puff pastries in my freezer from the last time. You know what that means, don't ya? Not that I'm begging or anything.

Grover, Thanks *s

Karilea, I had spent a weekend  two months ago and wrote the poem and forgot to post it
The onion and cheese pie was delicious...I would have to ask Dorene ( Chanson) to post it..but it is one of those recipes you just do...onions and cheese layered in a pie crust.

DavePage..'tis delicious...

Chanson, well it was fun  evening...and if I ever get over whatever this is that I have, I will be wanting to visit

Dawn, thanks *s

Martie, it is a friendship born out of poetry...and will probably last a lifetime.
Thank you
