Gun Control

Desperados came on two
mounting horses wild wild
west of wyoming. shod
with (the best)  hammered
iron giddie-up to
the blacksmith.

Gunslingers and lawyers
talk shop over rapid-fire
coffee break. unnurtured
babies scream for dead mothers
in-law school shots rang out
students dead.

There's another showdown at high noon.

Like it grover

I obviously dont live in a gun culture to the extent that we allowed to have guns although we allow people to learn martial arts as I did and how to disable people.

Words, style explosive

meaning I can't link to

well done and powerful meaning - our culture may die in the hands of the gun toting concealed carry NRA folks - too many persons have suffered that fate already - Paul

Well done, Grover. I've had a recurring dream since I was a child. In the dream, all the guns and weapons of the world were brought to one location and melted down into one huge monument. Watching us from a distance on another parallel world, the inhabitants smiled....then put their weapons down too, after seeing us make a decision in favor of life and love. When I wake up, I am always so disappointed with our reality.

That's an interesting point James brings up. If the criminally inclined want to cause death and destruction they always find a way to do it. Gun control must start at home. Grover we both know how it's worked in our country. Our politicians have wasted a billion dollars without really achieving very much success. Parents have to inculcate gun control into the minds of thier children at an early age. That would include not allowing their children watch TV programs filled with violence at a tender age. Many parents mistakenly use that TV with such a powerful influence as a babysitter. NOT a wise move. Young children are not mature enough to differentiate between entertainment and reality. Some are easily affected for life if the parent doesn't take the time to educate them and it takes TIME & EFFORT to make a difference.
However, Grover I love your thinking in this piece.

This poem reminded me of a passage
from a hymn we had to sing at Primary School.

"Last night I had
the strangest dream
I've ever had before

I dreamed the world
had all agreed
to put an end to war"

If only it were true.
I have recently moved to Birmingham, England
to pursue a degree.
I was astonished when I arrived.
Gun crime is at an all time high.
