Playing with fire, eyes daring to stare
embers of remembrance flickering
a slow dance, soft breathing
painting a canvas no longer existing
except in the mind of forgotten time.

There is no passion to feel, but for words
so long ago heard, waking from restless sleep,
a chant from outside wanting in.
This theater has closed its doors,
played its last curtain call.
Its importance dismissed.

A match held, watching the process,
the burning of truth
and in silence,
waiting for the ashes to fall.

"Love is not blind - It sees more and not less, but because it sees more, it is willing to see less."
(Will Moss)

Playing with fire, eyes daring to stare
embers of remembrance flickering

Smoking over a hot fire
Blinding passion
To dance the pokers

a slow dance, soft breathing
painting a canvas no longer existing
except in the mind of forgotten time.

Drifting dreamless
Floating on a sea of mist
and ships bursting horns
in the ice cold depths

There is no passion to feel, but for words
so long ago heard, waking from restless sleep,

to

a chant from outside wanting in.

To an early matinet

This theater has closed its doors,
played its last curtain call.
Its importance dismissed.

A match held, watching the process,
the burning of truth
and in silence,
waiting for the ashes to fall.

Into darkness

that light is prohibited from entry

less it brighten desire
to slowly mend

an emotion

Theaters have been know to burn down
And the actress soon will be reprising,
Become our phoenix from the ground
Let us see your newness rising

As always enjoyed the reading of your words

Very much enjoyed this one Maureen.
Many layers to this indeed.

....wow, i can feel this one

joy has its own justice. and dreams are languid and lawless. and everything bows to beauty, when it's fierce and when it's flawless...

LeeJ, thank you. I am trying to express how it feels to be aging, and leaving behind most of once mattered to me.

DavePage, lovely twisting of my words. It is hard to be passionate when alone. I really liked your last few lines..and may use them in another poem... *s

Professor Gloom, this theater burns its thoughts every morning when lighting the fires to warm. There is no newness left in me to rise. Thank you for your thoughts.

Marge,  I just needed to write, never knowing what or how it will become.
Thank you  *s

Nancy, glad you enjoyed ... and yes there were many layers in this.

Dixie, I know we are living parallel lives only you are better at succeeding.

Oh WOW, this is really good.

"There is no passion to feel, but for words
so long ago heard, waking from restless sleep,"

Those lines had teeth that won't let go.

O, always when I least wish to think or write, my mood swings to thoughts that won't give in and even though not very positive...it is coming from the force inside of me.
There are times when I wonder who I matter to, besides myself. Oh yeah I listened to Dr. Phil today...didn't help me one bit

Thanks

icebox, Thank you
distant memories arise when least expected
never sure whether they are a welcome respite or not.
