Midnight Blue Awakenings

~prelude~

And I can hear you whisper my
name in endless ache
lingering traces of love
tease my lips
that I am here to
remember your soul

So afraid no one would
understand such pain,
your diary heart
bled down the page
your need became my
reasons to breathe

naked in your confessions,
marked by the scars that
the cruel years and too
many tears had carved

More than I wanted to love you ...

I wanted to grant you reprieve,
still in time your truths revealed
wounds that would never heal,
in one heartbreaking,  final appeal
you prayed for merciful flight

The kindest thing I could do for you ...
was give you back to the night

~legend~

{In anticipation of your arrival ...
the moon dressed in feathered gown
                                      the stars adorned amethyst crowns ...}

I still see you
kneeling on the shore
premonitions in the mist
tears stained the tides
your pleas became psalms,
I could only stand in silent awe
as forgiveness painted wings
upon your palms
rain fell as holy water
the sky exhaled   bending light
I saw you ascend in
fragments of distant glitter
traveling beyond the stars

   without ever leaving my sight.

The moon and stars rotate on endless patterns
where once I stood as one with you,
now left here alone

the pleading heart

walking among the waves
do you feel my gentle hands
in desperate hours  it is then I breathe you in
all scents from earth these moments that rise from sea
take me to places that are far away

let me hide my weeping
within your wings

I knelt before the windowsill
held  my hands in prayer begging the moon
that you might kiss my lips again

  my soft pleas-- softly still

I listen for one sound, for the prelude to grow
euphony beyond any poetry

I struggle with this restless night
a single breath holding all pieces together
sinking into the scent of my naked solitude

I listen

across stillness  across any light I may have left inside
will you hear my vespers from a darkened soul

in shape-less shadows
life will gather with  waves
here among fertile enchantments
my heart unfolds petal by petal
waiting for warm caress
let night awaken

~epilogue~

There is a sacred silence in
each falling shadow's sound
the lament of sorrow's solemn hush
the echoes of stone beneath water's crush

After a long season of intimate mourning
inspiration returned, restoring my faith in
winter's white solace

consoled by your voice in muse whisperings,
silhouetted memories translated to verse
prayers to poetry, scripture to rhyme,
seducing the page, haunting exquisite every line

For all that you mercifully left behind
in your dusking persuasion,
with each breath of a moment's passing
you became the star's illumination

   you, my love ...
              became the sky's inspiration

beneath the moon's revelations
etched upon midnight's blue
I am granted deliverance
in the promise of you

Love is divine like that
exploding between sea and horizon

I dreamt of you last night

rising from the mist:
for a moment your being
reflected every water drop

every tear

I deeply inhaled
your solar rhythms
between ocean and sky
sun and star, earth and seas

there is no distance

in first blossom of spring
in gentle fall of snow
tapping rain upon my roof

there is no distance

between you and I

softly night awakens
in her amber phase

*Thank you lovely Lauren for the invitation to dance and the inspiration that sparked my muse.
Most of all for the butterfly connection we found in one anothers words.

YES!  Brava!! As soon as I saw the names, JM and Lauren..
I just knew it was to be a keeper!
There are far too many favourite passages in this incredible write
for me to pick and choose a few here...now.
Amazing blending of voices...delicate, exquisite.
Thank you...thank you...thank you both, so much!

Well now, you two phenomenal poetesses, please stand up and take a bow ~ or do a curtsey!

I wasn't letting a duet by two of my favourite poets, get by me! No sirree! And I'm certainly thankful that I didn't!  I am filled with many emotions and visions ~ and awe! I am so moved by the beauty and grace of your collaborative and creative spirit voices...

May your days be as glorious as your writing!

Love & Light,
Linda

If I said "It's about time" would that sound like a complaint?

This is so soft and flowing, and a beautiful peek into a mirrored "heart diary".

You made me understand the intensity of a whisper. It reminded me of one of those quiet screams--trying to voice pain that doesn't know language.

Total admiration here at the grace and the quiet quality of the passion.

Brava, ladies. Brava.
