The candle is burning low on my tabletop
the curtain is softly moving in the gentle breeze
I would be content to hold you now
but I’m satisfied to remember
when we wandered down to the sea
mesmerized by the lull of the moon
and the heat of the sparks
that flew in the night
was like the rhythm of the sea
washing my body against yours
and I watched you
as you lay sleeping
your body entwined in some far away dream
I lay lost in the love that I felt
and if you knew how lonely my life has been
maybe
once again we would be drawn
to the rhythm of the sea
but as I wipe the tears on my sleeve
I can only grieve
for what might have been

Beautiful Deb...very much enjoyed.

this is a bittersweet beauty!!
imagery wrapped in emotion....
How lovely to read you again poetess Deb.

I am sure of my reasons, embracing the seasons,
and the sacred simplicity of you at my side.
