You’d find the rose
From sunrise sets well on skin
Flushed in love
When the palette before you is imbued
With softer tones and you wish
To capture that moment of first blink
And languorous stretch to meet day
After wrapped in arms of lusty stars
And twinkle of midnight dew
After this so very long…

Let this easel be set to show
The shadows too
That float on walls behind you
Half lit image of softened edges
Still weak in definition just as the mind has not yet
Turned spiral cut gears to mesh
With another days grind

Smile for me and lay if you please
In face flushed beauty
That I might with my eyes
If not in paint
Capture this the spring
Of you

Wow, sigh Cpat.. sigh.

one for the library me thinks.

Beauty of the world which is soon to perish has two edges, one of laughter and one of anguish, cutting the heart asunder.

Wow! What does one say after reading this?
If you were selling tickets to romance, you'd be all sold out here!  Enjoyed the read.

I find Duncan's reply a bit startling, because after reading this, I thought:

"His writing is like a drug..."

There's power in the gentle expanse that reading you allows me.

Yep.

Mighty like a rose...

and if I haven't thanked you lately for being a friend--shame shame shame on me.

thank you

( I just love when the forums reactions back me up)
Now I can just quietly exhale and read this beauty again.  *sigh*

Through the water ... through the rain ... to the soul of everything
Wash my heart out on the stones ... and I'm almost gone.

We do not often see tender
poems of love...

so I'm tucking this away,
for when the gears need oil
and the spring has been stretched
too far...

Painting with words is a talent. And you are an artist.   And yes, always remember to include the shadows for depth and contrast and intrique.

believe in what your heart feels...

A fine romantic poem, indeed. However, this part...

"Let this easel be set to show
The shadows too
That float on walls behind you
Half lit image of softened edges"

... reminded me of the camera work in the movie, Citizen Kane, which is not a bad thing, but off-topic.

Enjoyed!

I have literally had this thread open for over an hour, while in a meeting, because I didn't want to forget to come back and tell you just how great this piece is.

But I know, deep down, you already know...
