I’ve tried to feel the linens of design portrayed on passion’s plate
When settings of finery grace the table, spread
With delicacies of delight in fanciful flight
Embossed with monograms of imagery finer yet

But,

Disarray in well-ordered hors d'oeuvres of synthetic opulence lay
Ground-works of dismantling fashion’s forte,
Re-arranging the salad forks of mindless patterns
And overturning bowls of blame on cotton threads

Yet,

I am let to wonder…
Which, of all life’s spoons, is the proper one to use?

smiling at muted...

This was great!
Very creative and well portrayed.

I find I set the table, and cut out the concern all around myself...
Wonderful.

Grover, question asked…Seymour, question answered—thank you both for reading and commenting

Passing and Kahlil, thank you for your comments…I find poetry more enjoyable the more it makes you think

Muted— Good one

ThisDiamond…actually this poem is about my inability to read, comprehend and enjoy the subtleties of poetry at times, especially when (like today), I could not enjoy the ‘reads’ until I had the ‘writes’ out of my system.  I felt like a guest at a great table with no ability to enjoy the wonderful buffet set before me…now, after the catharsis, I have set  back down at the table and have begun to feast again

and, BTW, should be "left to ponder" ...I forgot the f

Steaven...
I came back to fill up again....smile

Appreciate your comment...exactly...
You write well.  A spoon that is full, has no room for more, no matter where at the table you sit, or which one you choose...

I really liked this one.
Thank you.

Sometimes I read other works and do not comprehend, then I reread again. Sometimes I gain knowledge, sometimes not. Then other times I say....I can write about that because something has caught my eye and sends my imagination into a swirl of energy.
Interesting poem.
