Write away the tears.
Everywhere, I feel loss echoed.
As I look out the window toward overcast meadow,
I see two children and a dog warming a dying kidd
(and a cat, too chicken to dare the mud).

The two report back to the kitchen,
where the triplets once were bottle fed.
Son says, “Never give up on an animal;
He’s still moving.”
Realistic daughter says, “It’s only time ahead.”

They graced our pasture as everyday
I stopped my car to shout “Hey,
Baby, Hershey, Midnight, remember
when you were held in our arms,
nourished, inside our house?

Their maaaa would say, “of course.”

I so hate to see the trio broke,
Though fieldly animals, we've hearts the same.
Even our Australian blue healer,
Wild, but heart so tame
as he rests his head near the struggling chest.

We have an old Peachface lovebird

We called her aggressive
Monitored by two others who have preened her, fed her, protected her and fought over her

I do not, and can understand what motivates anyone or anything to do what they do

YOu look and try to understand but in the end I dont, and Jean has just taken the lead off the stew I am cooking, so it is time to retire briefly

Dang, but I do understand this one. Farm animals or no, they can get your heart pumping.
I had to dig a deep grave for my Khaki Campbell duck, Igor, who was retrieved by the tail feathers a bit too roughly by my Aussie cattle dog/blue healer mix (yes) when Igor escaped the confines of his enclosure.
*sigh*

Sorry to hear about this.  What caused it, Sadie?  Tell the kids I'm sorry.

Such a sad tale Sadie,
but your title is really lovely and says it all.

Hershey report:
Hershey is standing now.  Hopefully, optimistic son knew best. )Iliana, they're about ten or older)

Thank you for all your comments and Midnite, sorry to hear of the misfortune.
