Saint Misbehavin'
By: Noah Eaton
3/6/04

Freak flags wander about the head shops,
4:15 in the afternoon,
cordoning Sproul Plaza in amiable battalions,
with purple haze, orange sunshine, lemon logic
beautiful people,
discalced,
self-determined,
holding May poles,
from one end of the park to the other,
spoon-feeding the young with aversion therapy...

I'm no saint,
I'm Saint Misbehavin',
flash-lighting the paths,
for those searching for the lightswitch,
I'm no pilot,
but I commandeer my astral plane,
a visiting teacher serving breakfast in bed for all,
helping the lotus children discover their names,
helping them discover their names...

...they're all falling around us,
tabloids and tertian fever,
clowns with pasteboard faces,
travel agents without visas,
but here we're not mining velvet,
drinking the tamari streams,
singing monologues,
with my Lenny Bruce semaphore,
short-sleeved and unbottoned,
reclining in rhapsody,
passing the gravy around on the hog farm...

I'm no saint,
I'm Saint Misbehavin',
flash-lighting the paths,
for those searching for the lightswitch,
I'm no pilot,
but I commandeer my astral plane,
a visiting teacher serving breakfast in bed for all,
helping the lotus children discover their names,
helping them discover their names...

.
.
.

.
.
.
.
.
.
Jack be nimble, jack be quick,
Jack don't boondoggle beside the candlestick,
as the wick is your witness,
we'll illuminate the edge of the map,
tongue-dancing the teach-in,
coming down the pike in ice cream negligees,
love beads around their ankles,
carrying the summer solstice,
baking it in the oven,
so it looks immortal,
firing rubber bands at the moon,
so the light show can begin,
so the light show begins...

I'm no saint,
I'm Saint Misbehavin',
flash-lighting the paths,
for those searching for the lightswitch,
I'm no pilot,
but I commandeer my astral plane,
a visiting teacher serving breakfast in bed for all,
helping the lotus children discover their names,
helping them discover their names...

LOL, you had me smiling this time Noah.
What are you up to now? Loved the flashbacks,
lotus blossoms and all.
