I realise
that you are far away
now
no, not in distance
     (is a small world this)
but in the space between us

an ever-increasing divide
tending towards infinity
another divide by zero error
looms

you hardly even hint a smile
when our eyes meet
almost as if you know
that even a twitch of your lips
and a small sparkle in your eyes
would give me
an exponential growth of
satisfaction about the times
that used to be
and the tides that
we used to swim

hence perhaps that
another curtain
takes its due place
between the silhouettes
of our memories

very
deliberately

I wish
life was simple
as a game of chess
at least I could have traced back
to figure out my weaker moves
amongst surely many weak ones
and could have arrived at
a few of those decision gates
where logic was overtaken by
emotions

like some
unexplainable love
for handmade looms
and stitches on Belgian lace
though knowing well that
machines are designed
to be more perfect
in their finishing
quality

yet
life remains
lacking

it is
imperfect

like
love

verily
deliberate

WOW!!!...Life with all its imperfections still gives us the ability to reach above ourselves and leave a little magic in our path such as these words do as they move across the page...

enjoyed this a lot, espically the part where you compared life to a game of chess

"So what befalls the flawless?
Look what I've built, it shines so beautifully now watch as it destroys me."

Exceptional! "another curtain

between the silhouettes
of our memories" Very, very good work! Grover.

*Chuckling* We both know that logic has no place in this. And you've stated that here quite nicely...

Very well done, m'friend

this is SO good...and these two stanza are well nigh perfection

"I wish
life was simple
as a game of chess
at least I could have traced back
to figure out my weaker moves
amongst surely many weak ones
and could have arrived at
a few of those decision gates
where logic was overtaken by
emotions

in their finishing
quality"

Powerful and beautiful!!!

And like it was said above, I kept my breath while reading too. You've such a talent of puting the right words together Sudhir.
