Between the Lines

Realization

No longer needed,
in silent message,
one, I have finally received.

Eyes tired of searching for reasons,
heart worn thin, emotions disintegrating,
unmasked and unable
to heal the pain of loss.

Carrying the wait upon shoulders
heavy with care, turning up the music
loud enough to drown out thoughts
that follow my footsteps trying to catch up
and reside where the darkness embraces.

Last chance days
when it reigns tears of forgetting,
to leave behind unanswered questions,
knowing that only I
read between the lines of broken trust
and march into Spring alone,
as always.

M

Hello Maureen

Your words almost broke my heart.  You deserve so much love and happiness my friend.

Even in the saddest of your works Maureen, there is a grace and light that always dawns, and I always come away from the read deeper and more thoughtful.
