until, at full speed
we run out of road
or we could be so lucky
as to run out of fuel first

more likely though
we will not notice
that we are alone
when the scenery disappears . . .

excuse my dismal view of my own species these days but there is just so much that isn't there anymore . . . and the acceleration continues . . .

When I first saw the title I immediately thought of "the highwaymen" then after reading of course I realized it was not. Some days I just have the old country music on my brain I suppose.  
As to this wonderful write indeed most people are to busy and burn the candles at both ends.  And I like you do not like what I see in alot of our society today.
