Listening to every heart

Eve Returns to Mountain High Sun

She slips again into her smile.

The moon in hazy stillness hung
As close as any reverie,
As second month was whisked away
Before the lion’s furious fray,

As third month’s eager sense of birth
And crackling remains of leaves from fall
Pushed winter’s snow away from earth
Scattering quickly ‘neath hazed moon’s awe.

The eve of night slipped o’er her shoulders
Like a mantle drawn from purpled sky
And green blades called as if to hold her
To rest prone ’pon green blades to lie,

And shadows moved in even closer
To take again from light the lady’s gaze,
The moon in arc from month to month
Swept ’cross this night behind the haze.

The sounds of wind rushed shadows in
To whisk around her as she lay,
Scattering fancied feverish dreams
And moved along in her fantasies,

Then closer still the shadows saw
A slip of smile that held in her day
While above them both the Mountain High Sun’s
Moon moved along behind gray haze.

Oh, shadows dared this game of chance
Seeing dreamy warmth there in her lips,
Then shadows darkened before the dawn
And scurried o’er to pause at her hips,

Then moaned to wind in beg of stay
Beseeching in cries only gods could hear,
To hold the moon that it not stray,
To hold back day, to keep her near.

Then shadows loved the lady in lay
The lady of the Mountain High Sun
This lady ’pon which the smile again played,
Until the shadows were then undone.

Soon moon in haze felt warm sun’s heat
As sun would come to claim rebirth
And wind in one last wrest of night
Laid shadows low, back to the earth.

For in the east the blendings began
Of pinks to gold as if hung in gilt
As sun clipped along the earth at speed
From mountain tops to ocean’s silt

And in quiet know of a dream gone by
The green again rests in Lady’s eye.

my goodness...I see your muse has returned with brilliance. These are lovely Poetess of the Sun...and so appro of muse and title.

Through the water ... through the rain ... to the soul of everything
Wash my heart out on the stones ... and I'm almost gone.

the movement of shadows...that's what grabbed me, and the ending lines are splendid!

Wisdom Shadows LieTherein
subtle aches glory divine sublime
Reaching roadwards morning glories
thrive in mountains twilight

if allow moment override capturing
song of growth song of sighs
stare close shadows next step
our corporeal reality

Where rainbow touches earth gentlest
glow twilight abounding promising
the Orchestra Will Play Tonight
