Tradition, in Time – A tribute to Lipizzaner Stallions

Mr. D. was my “second father” in telling stories,
At least that was what I always believed to be so;
I learned from Mr. Walt about the whitest of horses
The most comfortable of stories but in the strangest way.

Although I knew it was true, I'm still in awe and amaze.

A general of his time took to his campaign
A salvation of those who could not save themselves
Those who had been in the lines since Roman times
Those who had been curried to give only their best

They have always stood up to their tests.

Look at the lines of the proud and the few
If not for Patton, they would not be here
If not for tradition, they could not step in time
If not for their soul, their beauty, their art

We would never know what they could impart.

It should be said, and I shall hereby admit
The flag, our country, the anthem will emit its
Sound, then my tears, in those who would believe
In God, and Country, and traditions in time

And I was glad, so glad to call this moment, mine.

Sunshine,
Thank you for enlightening me of this beautiful animal and its place in history.
I, too, enjoy a well told bit of the past.
Thank you, Sunshine.

very well done tribute!  I am still impressed years after having seen them - they are so beautiful, and the work their trainers do is nothing short of amazing.

Mucho enjoyed this.

this grabbed my attention and then some.  Come from a long line of horse trainers, breeders and lovers.  I've had the opportunity to see these truly magnificant creatures in person.  They possess the grace of a bird in flight. Did you know that upon their birth, they are completely black....then taking up to 10 years for them to turn completely white...the ones that remain black are priceless.

Sunshine, thanks for this early morning light this morning....love the pics....but of course...smiles and hugs.
