Such Sweet Silence

There's such sweet silence in the night
In the dark, the world's asleep
With pen in hand these poems I write
But there are few that I will keep

Like softly dripping rain they fall
At other times more like a drought
At this late hour the birds still call
In trees far off they move about

In silence there is often sound
So listen close and you may hear
Much like a whisper, it is faint
But it is always very clear

These Mockingbirds, oh how they sing
Nine songs I counted once when late
I check the clock, it's almost time
It's for the veil of dark they wait

From silence do I draw these words
To speak of dreams, to find a phrase
To share the truth and let you know
That we're alike in many ways

So much alike if it be known
The wars would stop and peace ensue
The children of the earth be fed
There's so much good that we could do

We all search life for loveliness
Our dear ones treasured 'til the end
We all remember our first kiss
And broken hearts that had to mend

We're warmed by laughter of a child
In awe when sunsets paint the skies
While kissing, often lose ourselves
And love to see smiles reach the eyes

Small whispers in the night that speak
From silence grown and darkness bred
Of paths to trod and beauty seek
To pen the words that must be said

When petals spread to welcome light
And flowers breathe perfume to air
This quiet friend that is the night
Is now at rest without a care

Sleep on, dear silence, 'til the day
Breathtaking, paints the sky to red
So stars once more can find their way
There are still words I have not said

(this is who I am and am struggling still to be. There is still poery in my heart, paintings yet to be revealed, but I can barely think and breathe now.  Of all the poetry I was once able to write, I think this poem is one that reveals the true soul of me.  I'm a good person.  Like each of us, I make mistakes, but my very soul is very pute and caring, loving, in awe of the world around me, in awe of friends that understand how much I care, just how much I love them.  God blesses us in BIG ways.  He's blessed me when I never felt I deserved it.  He loves me.  I love all!!!!

I was about to log off and head to work when I saw your name pop up here in front of me, and could not resist opening and responding before I headed out.  It is soooooooo good to read you again, Michael.

This is absolutely wonderful. Beautiful thoughts to ponder and reflect upon. I'm so glad to see this here this morning, my friend, and very much enjoyed the read. Just lovely!

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

What a wonderful poem! I share many of these same feelings. I certainly understand about feeling unworthy but am trying to see myself as I believe God sees us all... He sees only the good in us and is always waiting to grant His blessings, if only we would ask...

Ah Auguste, poetry is the music of our soul that we leave behind so that all might know we once cared...not just for ourselves, but for all mankind...

Your gifts are still many, and still remain with you.  I am sure, very sure, you will continue to always give, as good as you get.

When I saw that you had written a poem, I clicked on it faster than you can say, "Hallelujah!"

Michael, I am in awe of your talent ~ and you! In spite of all your trials and tribulations, you are able to create a remarkable piece of poetry that is so full of beauty, gratitude, and wisdom.

This was a real treat for me to read ~ and experience! You had me from start to finish.
...and may I add that your comments only added to my appreciation of both you and your fine poetry! God bless you, sweet Michael.

Loving, healing hugs,
Linda

Your paintbrush is still very full, Michael, and that quill still holds an ink that yields a unique write from your heart. It is a pleasure to read your words again. Healing thoughts from my heart to yours, Kacy. (PS, I am once again under the northern lights)

(big angel hugs) Oh Michael, I literally flood in tears reading this most perfect poem that repesents YOU, dearest friend, I have been so blessed to have you as my dear friend in my heart and I always will be, for your golden heart shows such strength and love that is seldom found in this world and you are a wonderful example of faith for all those who struggle and fight in life! (sigh) You may feel weak curently, but your heart has only grown stronger and I hope you always believe that as you influence and inspire all of us greatly, God Bless You Forever, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

This was one of Michael's best when he was at his worst.  It is a honest picture of a man that could see the best in everything even through his pain and suffering.  What I remember most about him was his "protection and empathy of the ladies" always the gentleman.

Well here's to Michael, may he soar high and God bless him.
