I’m sitting by the ocean…
Still looking for my best friend

At the heart of some miracle
Lives the work of a asylum
Is it prudent to be afraid?

Will my story fit into someone’s usual timeline?
Will our talents ever be combined?
Can I peel away the layers of red flags so?
Surrealism become a family business mode

I’ve only known mysterious jewel thieves
Yet, God’s nature reaches the swelling tones of things
An unending beauty fostering me, with or without
I miss Shakespeare though and his abysmal depths of alcoholism

Now that I’m older my ears…are opening
I’m not nearly as intoxicated
But what if I’m wrong…whose there to comfort me?

Will we couple the heights of New York?
I haven’t had those thoughts for years

But…for some odd reason…
The magician has always been there
The old man with loving affection,
Understanding without me asking
There is a companionship alive in my being
Where no uncertainty lives
Have I grown to self imposed, with an odd mix of shyness?

The flutes still reform their sweet warming notes
Off in the distance
What forces of nature are indifferent to man’s difficulty?
Or are they?

So, I sit by the ocean….skipping with some dreams
Building sand castles which no one else sees
Except the old man and there is never a need to defend my castle

This poem does have elements of sadness in it..but the most important thing it shows the reader is the enquiring mind of the poet..just look at the question marks....this is the very essence of what a poet is and should be...alwyas asking questions in order to attempt to understand the subtle nature of humans....Lee J is simply stunning at asking herself these questions..and trying to get an answer...we see spelled out in front of us the mind of a person that will not stop or hold back from searching the dark and mysterious realm of the brain....thank you for your mind and your words Lee J....

Goldenrose.
