...Hello my friends...
Today is a sad day in our little home, as we lost our dear Bessie, (our German Shepherd dog). She was 14 and 1/2 years old, had become very ill, and slipped away in peace to cross the Rainbow Bridge. We know she'll be waiting there to greet us someday, when our time comes. But for now, there will be a spot in our hearts filled with memories of you, dear old friend.
~~ Oh how we shall miss you ~~

~~~ For Bessie, who crossed her Bridge February 23, 2004 ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They say
That time will heal the heartache
And help us deal with the losing...
But you
Are such a part of our lives
This ending is not of our choosing...
We see
The look that’s clouding your eyes
And we know you’ve run out of tomorrows...
But here
Within our hearts you’ll remain
We’ll remember the days before sorrow...

Someday you’ll see us come walking
Across the green valley
You’ll be right there waiting
As you’ve gone before
And in the joy, this heartache
Will all wash away...

But for now
We must let you cross the Bridge...

So they say...

It is indeed a very sad day in our house!

Bessie has been with me since the minute she was born, a 'kind' dog, who loved life, people, children and other animals.

She welcomed Sunny into her home, and shared her love when Sunny arrived in England over 2 years ago.

4 hours ago she died in my arms, to wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge, together with her Mother, Grandmother and 7 Generations of her ancestors who gave me their unconditional love.   There is an empty space in my heart where all of these friends have been.

I grieve.

God Speed, Dear Friend.

Your Dad,  John  XXX

What a beautiful tribute... I'm so sorry for your loss, my friends. I truly understand... I also see that Bessie knew a life filled with love.

Sunny, and John,
This is such a sad and painful time, I know. I wish you did not have to endure it.
Lovely poem Sunny, you know I understand.

Bessie could not ask for a better eulogy. Very touching verse, thanks for sharing.

Sunny and John, this is a beautiful and loving
poem for your friend, Bessie. I used to not understand
the fullness of the bond that can be made with
a pet. I do understand now, because of my little Scooter.
My heart goes out to both of you, Sunny and John.
Heart hugs to you both in your time of grief,
Ethel  (and Scooter)

Sonny & John:  Your words seem to say it all and my heart goes out to you.  I know that you took lots of pictures of her and that you have many memorable moments to hold close in your prayers for her.  Big hugs               Ariana

My sympathy for your loss, it is difficult to lose a member of the family.  She sounds like an awsome dog and I believe she was blessed for having family members like you.

Thank you all, dear friends, so very much...sometimes it helps a person to let the grief out, to share.  You get so attached to the four-legged family members, that it's tragic when it is time for them to cross the Bridge.  But we can all learn a lesson from them....animals know acceptance.  They accept us unconditionally, and life around them without questioning what will be.  They accept the natural order of things.  Maybe that is the greatest gift they bring to us humans...a chance to learn how to accept life, from beginning to end.

Once again, thank you all for your support...both John and I appreciate it more than we can say.
