Wow there are a lot of people here with a Native American Indian Heritage. It's really something to hear all of your stories and your backgrounds. This is for those who shared their stories. Marge, Noah, Passing Shadows, Iliana, Garysgirl, ARH, Sunshine, Magnus, inkedgoddess, NewEnglandlazurlu, and anyone else that I missed.

(Great Warrior)

I am the light of the clouds and the rain in the air;
My feathers spiral from the staircase of heavens lair,
I am the mysterious voice from troubled times past,
And the earth under the fields of orchard wheat grass.

I am the teardrop from a cloud upon the warriors grave,
And the shadow that charges before the riding brave,
I am the setting sun that kisses the earth’s gentle hand,
And a blanket of petals that lay over the mother land.

I am the spirit of the thunderbird that encircles thy path,
And the protector against the coyote’s cunning wrath.
I am the wayward trail that leads to the highest rock.
And the seeing behind the keen eyes of the hawk.

I am the remembrance of your ancestral struggled past,
And the journey on the trail of tears until the very last.
I am with you from the beginning until the end,
For I am the ancestral drum of your heart that beats within.

Your message is strong,  of a people that
are very enchanting to us all.  For I too
share the native blood of those that stood
before us.

No Indian in me, but I do recognize a good write when I read one.

Hello Jeff

As usual, my words could never do justice to this amazing piece of writing.  Your words are always so much appreciated by so many people and I hope this encourages you to continue pursuing your wonderful talent.  Your words have touched so many hearts here, my friend.

Take care.......Sue

This is an outstanding, excellent, brilliant write passed from the ancients to you.
I hope you will continue to write from the heart of a warrior.

I have less than a smidge of Native American blood but this piece touched it in a very big way.

Hugs, Marti

I take no credit for my poems. Although I write them, I feel
more like I transcribe them. It's just a matter of listening.

Your words are incredible and true. (My husband who drums, tells me of a spiritual unity that comes from the drum's heartbeat.  He is not of Native American birth, but is learning of its wisdom.)   I enjoyed this very much and will pass it on to him.
