The scrape
Screeking as it was of metal on glass
Vibrating corners of chatter
as frost is cleared
And lies in powder now
Caught by wind to swirl
Prismatic
             Swarm
With only faint broken crystalline sound

My breath now fogs this morn
Dark cleared stars not yet shorn from fleece
Heaven has become
And I wait for noise to become my norm

Yet chill though the crawl of wind be
As it in mischief pokes at clothes
Then laughs against now bared trees
I remain a moment more
To listen
But most to see

Cut edges of the dark
Filled with mist of ice
Reminding me

Harsh contrasts stand out
Black on white
And in this purity of sight
I need not look for greys
Or colors of the dawn

I may enjoy the madness
Of February’s extremes

If you keep writing
through the month
like this,
I will be allowed
to enjoy the extremes,
myself!

Reminds me of Indiana...

Use to sit out in the wee hours of the morning waiting for the bus and listen to the frozen lake noises.

thanks.
