If ever knew I a single thing
twould in saying bring heartless mirth
and jokes so crude as abominations true
first so-heartless mankind be touch of love a joke

Yes mankind yea speak your vomit into beauty love
you understatement nor comprehension ye enjoin
How is it the gift given is thrust and roll
Missing the pure beauty solemn touching all in all

Ye speak of Love
Yet know thee not and mine eyes can water dripping
For what thou has never known or terribly forgot
Knowing tears fall but never again a wretched joke

And to ALL
KNOW

Death,
As you stopped by my post and checked out my short ones, I became curious as to your style of writing.   I'm not sure if I understood this or not, but I did like this part.  You have a style I'm not familiar with.  Your poem was interesting.
You spoke of miminalistic writing.
Here's a three worder, VOID, if you're interested:

merci and if  could recall
the correct spelling "beacoup"
for my French in disuse fails me
thank thee
and yes will be happy to read a poet knowing words... to seek thy website

my thanks
and hopes my penance in psueddonym be paid
for who can revel in the necessary but hardly joyous name in troth, tis a penance, perhaps be known

again, I thank thee  for thy words

You may call me
Kendell
I should write, and indeed I will, how I attained this too real and abhorrent psuedonym.
Perhaps the Pip Gods shall find mercy in my stupidity, refrain

Kendal..I see your use of language has not suffered..though the name you chose her seems to say you have...

rapiers sir..only rust if neglected and the edges must be honed, even after having suffered the nicks and stress of having been crossed...

Indeed, how many can miss the true beauty found in love is something I find to be sorrowful, as love should be beautiful
and not filled with pains inflicted by others.

I enjoy your words and hope to see them here more often. Thank you for the replies to my work and any time you feel like leaving a treatise I would more than welcome it..
it is how we grow as individuals, when we accept what others offer and learn from it.

Much in thanks to all
nice to see/speak with you Ron
I trust you are doing well
you may have to bear with me for a time
my rapier of gift was replaced with a double
edged medieval broadsword to which my training has left me quite ignorant of stance and thrust (not to mention the thing is more than three inches at the base) a different kind of sword play for sure, but as you know I consider a duel a duel-laughing
glad to see you- surely our times will be in their time.

To: Gentle Spirit- so aptly named, thy talent drips frame unto frame. Ask Sunshine, I do NOT compliment in idleness, boast, nor famine of host. Even your reply was as succinct and poignant as pen allows. Your conclsuion I heartily agree- tis the giving and the taking,"the movement in between us every one" which allows the growing. If ye wish, check the archives for ATelamon, he had a penchany for Acrostics, perhaps I will post some under this abominable psuedonym- (laughing) which merits a lyric poem all its own)
Meantime I shall peruse thy work if allowed, and Rose colored glasses to us all.

To: Sunshine- sunny one so true- how I did miss you,

And Sunny talk to the PIP Gods- and see if you canh get me back one of my names= ATelamon would do nicely- Death just turns people off.

Thanks to all, and Ron, remove thy rust-----------------Gentle Spirit, show me what you have wrought, if you please.

and for Goodness sake call me Kendell, or Captain

LOL

you never fail sir..to add more words in saying what needs said than is called for. But amusing... to see where the minds wander does take you...

I retired my rapiers to an armory and use my shield now for a planter to grow roses... I have no wit left or right for that matter and find myself the old and dottering fool you always knew me to be..

Broadswords by the way, do make wonderful fence posts to line the garden... one dies have to collect a few to complete such a project, but it seems no shortage them is found along the paths often journeyed...

Care for tea?

Well Ron, as long as it is Earl Grey, cooled, but not cold, be happy for that tea, though no doubt, some too often seen swashbuckler's, somehow make it impossible to completely give up the sword. No doubt I shall be the menace of the old folks home, challenging orderlies and other inmates with canes to a duel coup de grace.
And besides, you I love playing with words, and I doubt sincerely you are doddering, don't try one on me--- laughing-- though I do hear gardening is good for something- like viagra etc, besides, I Intend to make my headstone/markers, whatever, my favorite sword, its not like its going to matter to me of when it rusts out-- I know , leave itr to me to say the least with the most words. Everybody needs a hobby, right

(chuckling) Earl Grey? Surely sir a good strong Ireish breakfast tea would suite you better! Something with body and richness... early grey seems too complex the taste for winter days and talk of swords or swashbuckling.... is not after all, swashbuckling nothing more than the grasp of life in hands or mind thought strong enough to if not tame life itself, then to wrestle it to the floor and make it cry uncle?

Which brings to my tired and befuddled mind, the thoughts of language itself and how it too in the act of being used to convey from one to another the things we are or are not becomes a grasp at wrestling life. With words, whether many or few, do we not indeed wrap the hands of our mind around a concept and bring it to life ( or attempt to) only to wrestle the many menaings the words could have into some sort of submission? Is not the sword then the editors pen,? Slashing as it would the weak or redundant, leaving the spoils to be carried off by any who read?

My sword, sir, is a simple pen... and being off the weak wit and slow nature that God so endowed me with, I ponder longer than most to put together simple ideas... My days in said care facilities ( should I indeed live long enough to need one) would I think be filled with a quarrelsome old man who edited his curses at youth and left roncor to lie on floor where it might be stepped on or swept out with all that is trash...

My grave... will not exist..except as flowing water, for my ashes are to be scattered and no marker placed. I care not would mine be stone or sword that it might decay, I care that it not be marked and I in passing be remembered as I live.

Do not this stone carve
with names and dates
marking this
my time to reign over flesh.

I would not have
any who might in time
come pay respects
pay them to granite.
Pay them instead to that
which flows beneath
and through us all

I am of the river
as is life

constantly to change
and carry all that
from my journey
eroded into me

In time
I ask the water's words
rememebr me in late the summer
to all who hear the tune

Of water over words

Always a reason to come back to read between the responses...poems within poems...

I do think I would challenge the both of you to duet together.  I wonder what sort of word play would be found as you both slice and parry and wield the pen...

Yes, I do hereby challenge the both of you to duet together!

LOL...

I would respectfully decline such challenge.

Our duels were in reply... real time..with marks to he who in verse replied well and first... The gentleman is more than my match and owns far more wit than I... I'd not drag down his flower of language with common use of noun and verb as one old country boy is apt to do...

I like the words of you, the sound...the way they mix on the page and the meaning.  Thank you!

Ron methinks thou protest too much, and were ever wacthful to debase thy work, which we both know can be very fine indeed.
And yes a robust Irish or English breakfast tea would suit most admirably. Only let me decline any sweet, as it masks the flavor of the tea. As in martinis, straight up please. SO any advice on those white roses, beyond well drained soil etc. I may indulge in crimson tones this year and am a wretched gardener so if wiling I shall from time to time attempt to glean such knowledge from thee. As for dueling, you must admit, with pen is a wonderful bit of mental stimuli. Rather like a chess tournament with the clock ticking. And to actually shorten your comments about swasbuckling, I agree, yet the pleasure is in the doing, and few physical feelings match the moment you disarm your opponent, listening, wattching his foil clatter unceremoniously to the floor.
And catching up on your writing in my absence twould seem thy pen has stayed quite well honed.

Not the most pleasant job around. But the PIP-Gods make me serve my penance.
