She bid me wait
Till sun in fall met the blue of hazed land
With shades of red
       That deeper grew to purple
Along the line where horizon lay

And side by side
   Our shadows grew
Mine longer then than hers
There came a blend
        And none could see
The place we blocked the sun
For something larger than us both
Had stepped between

She whispered me be still
While she pulled from pocket string
And began to lay it in a circle
Round behind to front
The break tied in knotted ends

My mind remembered spells
   And circles drawn from them
To keep at bay the fears of dark
Or will of others
             Who sometimes stalked

The shiver began deep
     And I,rooted as I was
To this patch of ground
Felt below me too the swell of earth
And wondered if she was some mage
To cast on me revenge
For all the weary days I lived
For all my mortal sins

She smiled
   And handed me a stick

“Stake the place where your shadow ends
and mine begins” she said.

“I can see no shadows there is no light.”
I replied

She laughed a kind crinkle of sound
“Can you see me?” she asked
as she saw me frown.

“yes” my answer came
for indeed light enough did remain

“Then tell me why you do not see my shadow
or yours?” In low voice she asked.

I simply shook my head as science ran
In rampant thought across my mind
But formed no words to speak

“Because,” she softly said
“we are lit from inside and
not blinded to this fact by an
unrelenting sun.”

“we have no shadows here?”
I asked.

Her laugh in fact
Haunts me still...

"our shadows in this circle lie"
she said,
"and we just lie within."

I got a distinct image of pink mountains, and yellow skies...

I'm very much in like

Thought I would give you this reply for all your support and sometimes annoying understanding of me.
