Between the Lines

She gave to me laughter
in midst of her pain.
Shared us her moments
again and again.

Good front she was wearing,
though colored in red.
Undressed, she, before us
her scars raised in dread.

Her frown holding in
the aching of know.
Releasing the hidden
of thoughts once in stow.

Today was a day
that would finally be
the pledging of sisters
for one to set free.

So we laughed at the small things
until there were tears.
My mother and sister
and I, living fears.

Not much more to be done,
only days to endure,
to savor new memories
come next moments more.

She will fight till the end
and do it with flair.
My sister, the eldest
in this family affair.

I love poems that shoot straight from the heart to my eyes...this is one of that kind..
Honest emotions stressed, as they must sometimes, even the sad ones, yet in this sad poem is the essence of love...deep and familial, one of the strongest of kinds.
Peace to you, and all that you love...
Very nice poem_________ice

I have a dear friend, Maureen, who may meet your sister very soon.  Or greet her.  I do know...and my prayers are with you all.  I am glad to know, that there is some laughter among the tears.  As it should be...
