Look to Others

Self pity in itself is a disease
That drains the lubricant from supple knees
And makes of muscled bone, a crippled limb
Wrought only by imaginings within

Let not your sorrow’s wind uplift the wings
Of life’s short journey through God’s offerings
For you were given but one ship to sail
O’er silver sheen unmarked by weathered trail

Look to the one who grabs the helm you’ve cursed
For it is he who begs to quench your thirst
And passes you a vessel duly filled
In which the tears he’s wept have been distilled

Look to the one who swabs the wooden deck
For you know not the distance of his trek
He smiles though glimmer of his eyes, and yet
His mission on the sea is to forget

Then look to one who wears the albatross
For you know not the deepness of his loss
He looks to you with sympathy and shame
That you do not feel blessed within your pain

Reach out your fingers to the quiet night
For you have no remembrance of the fright
That caused some pulsing heartstrings to ensue
To touch your fingertips the way they do

Extend your eyes to places far beyond
The black of wing tipped flutters from your pond
Where seasons are determined by the sky
And not from puzzled creatures seeking why

And there in far off lands your heart will see
How deprivation’s door to misery
Can make you grasp again the rudder’s wheel
And let the wounds of pity fully heel

Let not your sorrow drive the billowed sail
Though bitter pangs of life’s most furious gale
Dark clouds that mark your course and measured pace
Are but a mist that veils the sun’s embrace

Not only breathtaking because I know you bet that perfect poem took all of what - let's say 5 minutes max?   You lady are simply TOO amazing!  I sure miss you too.

Today I'm only moving clouds, tomorrow I'll try mountains.
