I Apologize

If  breezes  aren’t as warm as those
In long ago Julies
If constellations aren’t as clear
As stars in summer skies
It wasn’t by my will that twinkles
Blink  from fireflies…
And I apologize

If I couldn’t will a crimson sky
Just as a sun should set
If twilight has not draped the earth
In hues you won’t forget
I had no power to make the evening
Right for you, and yet…
I do express regret

If you are not contented with the
Best that I could give
If this love that I offer doesn’t
Beg the soul to live
If time we’ve shared is not the finest
Passing through life’s sieve…
I beg you to forgive

Just look into the love that fills
The deepness of my eyes
Be comforted in words that pour
From one who softly cries
But if you do not see the truth
Beyond forgotten lies….
Then I apologize

oh Liz...this is just so very lovely and done with your classic gift of rhyme and cadence wrapped in imagery....what a treat this was to read aloud.
I dont get here as much these days--its SO good to find your name here again.

Well I cant say what I might believe ...
but if God made you ... he's in love with me.

Elizabeth
This is the epopee of forgivness.
And gave my heart a press of stress.
I cannot make the flame to stray
Nor can I drain the tears away
There is for me no other door
You'll live in me forever more.

Liz...every write you give to us is pure
and virgin silk...You write with such ease
and grace,  impeccable flow...and so well
put together...

You do realize that not only do we enjoy
what you give us....we also are very
envious and always wishing we could have
written a poem like one of your own.

I am trying to imagine where anyone could mistake your love or the value behind it and it just doesn't happen to within these grasps.  If you share your life in person as well as you do your words in here, then I don't think there could ever be a time where anyone couldn't find the crimson in the sunset.  Well written and a treasure to read.

So many of your comments touched me deeply. It is so wonderful when we can share the beauty of the written word that we call poetry. We are all truly blessed to have a place to gather, to learn and to grow in our expression. Thank you all so very much for all I have learned from you.
