There is something I have noticed
since I have been here
on these pages of blue....
these wonderful pages
called Passions In Poetry

When I first joined
I found myself around much more
than I am now, though I am still
here quite often

I have seen people
come and go....some friends have left
who always read my poems.....
though so many still here read my
humble offerings.....
and I appreciate all of you so very, very much.....

But, I have noticed that there are so
very, very many really good poems
that slip down very quickly
on these beautiful pages of poetry

So many beautiful writings
of words never found or read
or maybe just never replied to.....
Such excellent work is left unnoticed......

I find them sometimes
when I am here.......
as I am looking for some of mine
that have fell quickly down
so that I can respond to the replies on them

Such beautiful works of art
of others I have found
that have seldom been replied to....
I just sometimes find myself wondering why not......

I'm relatively new here... thanks for discussing something I've been wondering about.

Hello Grover. I've always wondered this. I've
just never written anything about it before....
well, not that I've posted out here in Open.
I know that there's no way one person can read every
single poem that is posted here. It's just odd to
me that so many really good poems only get one,
two, or three replies sometimes. I just wonder
why somebody doesn't read and reply to them. I
honestly wish that I could reply to every single
poem here. Work is put into every one of them.
Thanks for replying to mine.

Hi Ethel...
I think it's just a 'time' thing.
I try to read and respond to as many as I possibly can.
But, everyday 'real life' catches up too often..
and we can't reply to every single poem here.
And a lot of the time, even if there are not many replies..
This does not mean they are not being read.
Good poem....good point..lots to think about.
Hugs, Nancy.

Thank you for putting into words things that sometimes I feel. I write something that has touched me deeply and look at it and think that is so pretty. But since this is such a large site it scrolls right on out of here and I think.....Aw darn. If you post early in the morning or around 5 in the afternoon you may get read. Like you said there are so many good writer almost impossible to be able to read all. I guess you get used to reading certain writers and miss another passionate writer and their wonderful works.
We miss alot of beauty, but we do try.
Love Bon-Bon

Nancy, I know that you do. It tells by the
number of posts you have, compared to
the number that are actual poems. LOL I know
that it's hard to reply to every one. I used to
try all the time, but gave up. With so many poems
posted here daily, I think it would be impossible.
I'm talking about just in Open. There are so many
other forums too that I seldom take the chance to go to.
I know that I miss a lot of good poetry.
Thank you for always replying to mine, my friend.

Bon-Bon, I missed you there while I was responding to Nancy. LOL
I think that you and Nancy may be right about the timing.
There are so many that get pushed right on down the page.
I know that I miss a lot of good reading by not being
here as much lately. But, life sometimes takes over. LOL
Thanks for reading this one, Bon-Bon. I appreciate it.

This is a problem we have had since the beginning of PiP. We've often had 'readers' who do nothing but search for those lonely posts with two or less replies. It's an admirable task, but time consuming! Perhaps we should all set a goal of bringing ONE poem from the depths back onto the first page? Sometimes a new member will post and not reply and therefore not get their name out to the other members. We're an interactive community - so it goes both ways...you read me, I read you. There are so many good poems here that it's a shame to let any of them go unread!

Good post Ethel! Thanks.

Michele, that's a good idea. If we would all do that,
maybe no-one would feel left out? I hate for people
to feel so left out, and I know that some must.
Thank you, sweet lady.

Sharon, you are so right. I sometimes go to the back
pages and try to read some of the ones with less replies.
The only problem of doing that so often, is that the
ones just posted get pushed down even faster.
It's impossible for one person to read every poem
that's posted, especially here in Open, though.
I finally found that out. LOL But you are so right...
it's a shame for all these good poems to go unread.
Thanks for reading this.

Ethel -- You are absolutely right.  At times, I've gone to the back first.  I'll try and do that a little more.  Thank you, sweet lady!  (You are blessed!)

Yep, I always start at 200 and try to work my way back up.
You write so honest and true, Dear Ethel, thank you.

boy, do I relate to that which you speak...even wrote a short poem I'll never catch up in here that expressed my frustration in never catching up reading all the good works of all the great writers here.  I confess that I am drawn to certain writers' works because of style...some I find it easy to reply to...others (especially those very intimate writes, I find it very difficult to reply to even when I enjoy them immensely)...some of the 'sensual' writes, even though they might be excellent writes, I cannot reply to 'cause I am such a prudish stick in the mud.

I agree , so many wonderful poems slip by so quickly .... I do admit to going on a few other poetry sites so it can be very time consuming , for me I think its also the time difference between here in Australia and the U.S.A , my mornings are your evenings , I am almost a day ahead than the others .Often I read replies to my poems when I log on and find they have gone way over many pages , then I have to begin the search to even reply back to those that left a comment

yes, it's always good to go down in the pages and find the ones who got "trampled"

I always have mine set on 200 per page and to show the last 60 days so I don't miss too much...and I am one of those backpage surfers too...I'm sure it is appreciated and a surprise to the poet, who has not seen their poem in days or weeks, to have it pop back up to the top!

I agree with Dixie. One day last week someone pulled one of mine out of nowhere and it made me feel sooooooo good. It was a wonderful surprise to see it at the top and a compliment that I appreciated very much. Youngatheart

yep, seen and known this many many times. I try to pull some up from the bottom sometimes, but I'm not here enough to do that much anymore, especially this past week. I feel guilty posting anything now because of how little I can be here to reply to others. Bad health sucks! Anyway, well said Ethel

So true Ethel!

It's amazing how many friendships
are just waiting for someone to
send a nice reply...

Reaching out, and making connections...

If you think about it, that's what this
place is all about...

The poetry part... that's just the bonus

Thank You Ethel!

You're right on the money
