Watching Him Sleep

Twilight lends the light,
dim, yet she can see the jut
of his jaw, the line of his cheek,
the slight upward curl of his lips
as he lies peaceful as a fed infant might,
his breath as light as the tufted cotton cradling
his sleepy head.

She watches him,
for minutes turn to hours,
the memories so thick
she must wipe them from her face

of when they held, enveloping each other
in the warmth of spent flesh
and quivering limbs, calm hush
following the erotic flush

and now she watches him
as hours turn to a lifetime--
She loves.

I bought my share of mistakes so I might see some interest.

"She loves"

Yes, we watch for hours what we love and we ponder over all that connects us.

This is very beautiful.
Love, Margherita
