Can’t Have Your Cake…And Eat It Too

if these were
your words
I wonder
how you would
have written it
would you ice
the broken cake
so the appearance
on top hid the truth
of its flawed center
I am a realist
and would rather
taste the richness
of the crumbs
than not know
the true flavor
