Monotony is king on Lincoln Road--
There's endless carbon copies on parade,
With catwalk struts and stuck-up looks displayed--
Enough to make this poet's head explode.
I've searched here for a subject of an ode
And every place I've sought it, I'm afraid,
Was proof that madness came to visit, stayed,
And multiplied wherever neon glowed.

I'm told this hasn't always been the case--
That simple beauty, paired with common sense,
Unfurled its way across these streets and thrived
'Til foolishness and "fashion" took their place.
With just a smile, you've given evidence
A relic of that era has survived.

I like this...Those people who dare to be different by being themselves minus all the stuff covering them up...even if its just the attitude...them's my favorite.

This is marvelous--I hope more people become familiar with it.  What you say here is very true about many places, but oh, those smiles,
when they come can erase the madness.
Looking forward to reading more of your posts.

Really enjoyed your very modern sonnet and its tribute to unpretentious beauty.

I enjoyed your sonnet, Adonis.  You have a typo, it should be 'unfurled'. I hope you can fix it. This is an excellent poem, all the way through.
