Husband

I'll guard the door
if you don't loose faith in me when I cry.

I will carry you over the threshold of your sanctuary
if you tend to my frailty when I'm old.

I will protect you from harm
allowing you bumps and bruises
should you yeild that authority.

I will lift you up
should you ne'er question my fortitude...

and in peace, when you die, I will have a seed waiting
and teach the song of your deeds to the historical record of human.

I understand this, and the If's and all, but some things need to be unconditional...on both sides.

Enjoyed.  You've been away awhile.  Welcome home!

You are absolutely write (!)
this 1st part represents a man's intentions...

which of course, are soon replaced by reality...however right or wrong.

Thanks for reading...

Very interesting poem -- has a very Early American feel about it and I don't really know why it evokes that sort of feeling.  Enjoyed.
