Under the green,
green of my Irish forefathers
I know not why
I was born with yearning
for those Emerald Isles,
for those Shamrock Shores
that my ancestors have not graced
for many, many a year.

Yet, my Celtic heart was joined
to that beautiful lass
whose mist-swept skirts
encompass my soul,
whose golden coasts
beckon me to the promise
of her Leprechaun fields,
to the magic
in the mystic ways of Erin.

Then, green is my heart
and green is my blood
under the green,
green of my Irish forefathers.

This is beautiful -- I hear it calling to me, as well, even though that is not my ancestry as far as I can tell.
