Was it treason to disobey the fugitive slave act?
Is it unpatriotic to reject the choice of preemptive war?
Arguers of answers (yes) have shouted phrases quite the same.
*
The questions are of similar sort,
Because both seek to prod
(The yes-sirs guided by their God)
The weaker of polemics
Up the thirteen steps of gallows,
Or the stairs of auction blocks.
*
To find the true answer, I have closed all written tracts,
And every page wrote on, by pseudo-pious men;
Raising my thoughts to the plane of invisible Gods,
That have no vengeance ax to grind, (by mortal flesh,
Claim conquest)...to let my spirit sort the rubbish.
Only there can I feel the unprejudiced touch
That separates superstition, from the truths told by sublimes.
*
Wired in the brain are electrical connectors,
That shock the heart though invisible strands;
Conductors placed there by the highest mystical,
That some people have named Jesus Christ.
Over those wires I have received the definitive answer,
Which is no!

All answers are subjective so you can take it from there. LOL Good write, good metaphors, enjoyed.

We debate this very question within my own family -- it is the question of our age, as it is every age.  The age of innocence in this country is lost.  Brave and well written poem.

the answers are all left within ourselves...God/Jesus does not deny...by what we believe, projects our minds to move our bodies in that direction.

Outstanding write and quit a lot to ponder

(big angel hugs) I don't know what kind of God those who'd answer "yes" in this instance are worshipping, but I know Jesus would cry if he saw His lambs all divided like this, all from the black sheep in the office, and the slaughtered lambs all out there not just in Iraq but here too! (sad sigh) What of fellowship and brotherhood and peace do those many not understand, God Bless You for speaking your thoughts, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ford, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Seymour
I agree in many cases, but not for the questions asked in this poem, I must stick to no in this case.
Thanks for reading and the nice comments..

I believe the innocense is not lost, I believe it is just buried deeper then at one time..but still exists in the connection between the heart and the brain that I spoke of here..Thank you for reading....indeed, not "brave" just honest....but I love the sound of "well written.....

P.S.
Ahhh yes, there is much more to ponder..love this comment....

Yes, "the answers are left within ourselves" no matter the name of the source of the leaver...
Thank you for your poetic reply
