Listening to every heart

Two Hearts, In Time

The match had been there, once,
for it had
sparked
(he had admired it in her eyes)
then flared
(they both had felt the heat)

then burned, steadily, long enough
to light a candle
that would illuminate time…

Over the years, she would replace the candle
anew,
borrowing from the flame of time,
then hold it high,

to see if he would return
to the ways
that had started them
on the path of together.

She would stand alone, by the window,
overlooking a moonless bay,
his candle’s light behind her,
enlightening beliefs laying deep
within her soul

and she strove to write of moments
gone awry,
searching her heart to repair
what had been torn asunder,
hoping to again find a path
that would bring him
home to her…

to again entwine
his heart with hers, in time.

It was when the windows opened
one night,
from a gust of wind,
extinguishing candle’s flame,

that she lay down her pen,
and knew he was gone.

But her spirit lived on,
a force so persistent, she knew
it was time
to light a new match,
start a new flame, even if it were
to be a solitary light,

still it would carry her love, of life.

A new chapter
and verse
of a life lived in pursuit
of a dream not yet dead,
would be hers, alone.

Oh, Karilea, this not only gave me a chill, but at the same time, warmed my heart. Very lovely.  Chris

Such an eloquent way of saying, 'I carry on'

Much strength of spirit in this, and as always, enjoyed!

Incredible. Simply incredible. You absolutely capture what we are, or try to be when we are at our best. Well done, Sunshine.

complete awe, and speechless
I do believe somewhere,  time is standing still for this!

You Are NEVER ALONE
Did you not learn that much
the match striking-to-FLAME
was AllTheCall EVER Required

To Illuminate EachEveryDream
NotAndNeverSolo
Who would thereby be to strike again
the fire which OpensAnEntireWorld

of NewSeeing teachers flounder in sabbatical
SailorsLeeeeaaappppppHeadlong as ShipsSlip
From Harbors TooKnown (PATENTING THAT WORDSPLICE) As in each TooTired- TooTried

But the WindsABreast the Mainsail
knowing not what EndlessSunsetMiracle
the late and lost mate may find
With a ship's company so BurninglyAlive

Here you go
Waterproof matches
Tears like storms rarely
leave the lamps dry

Still all in all
There is always
       The Sunshine
Near bashed whats left of me brain jumpin
aboard like that

Now have you been studying your William Blake?, like a good pupil.

Hmmm, Death Takes a Holy Day- Been Used- sort of.

To the wind, and TIME.

Wonderful imagery here Karilea

Yes, a new match, a new flame,
a new life...

“even if it were
to be a solitary light,
still it would carry her love, of life.”

Very Very Nice!
