I live within myself

A country girl is what I am
When I choose to be
I’ll bring her out.

II

I like the days I choose to be
the country girl I was born to be
and mingle with the forest
that grew up around me
and meet once again
the musical friends
that live among the trees
and always seem, no matter
how long the years departed
eager to speak with me
and welcome me once more
to this land I can’t outgrow
where to be still is to be alive,
where silence speaks
so many things
and many friends
may come to this place
to pass a final test
and show a genuine face
for only trueness abides
in this
half-fantastical place.

I love the lyrical way your poem puts the reader in that naturally beautiful setting...so calming...so relaxing...so...country

Endlessecho, I was raised in the city, but
have lived in a rural area for quite a few years now. I love it out here. It is so peaceful, and you described it very well!!
