Abbreviation

FBI, CIA, IRS, and DEA,
INS, FDA, where have gone my words this day?

Okay I know this is kind of silly...but I must confess the idea kept nagging at me until I wrote this down. Mayhap now that I've gotten it out of my system I can go back to writing in my usual style. To tell the truth though the creation of this piece was kind of funny. I was at work tonight and the boss came along and said he needed a piece ASAP. The word ASAP got me thinking about how language has become a collection of abbreviations. The idea then gave birth to this piece. Purposely I was trying to keep it as short as possible but still have some measure of rhyme and meter. After all I suppose poetry must reflect our need for abbreviation too. (Laughing out loud!)

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

i once came across a one word haiku written by a "master" over one hundred years ago....

and while some of the people in my reading group all thought it was "stupid" .. i sat there thinking about how profound it really was.

so do i think this is silly? :::shakes head::: nope. i do understand that you wrote it with a smile... and that's great!

but i like that you stepped out of your comfort zone. :-D

ok i'm done rambling.

Smiling on you.  Your words are hiding in the archives...

Actually, this IS quite profound.  Considering the topic agencies of your poem, hiding seems MOST apropos.
