I have no words with strength enough to tell you, I can not comprehend the Hell you must go through everyday just to get from dawn to dusk; you may be the bravest man I have ever seen. All man, and part machine bound to your chair, running off of batteries, your body like a knife whose edge has gone dull, beyond repair; your mind still keen to taste the fruits of life. We meet at most a dozen times each year two old men telling stories of strife along the trail, and without fail you have repaired the gear I'd left last time we met; your talent is beyond belief and yet you need help to smoke your cigarette. I can't imagine how you do the work you do for me, no money buys the pride I see, the joy shows on your face shining in your eyes, I feel it in my heart as we tell each other lies about living in the mountains, hunting for the future that we'll never see. ©2004 by icebox |

Excellent portayal of feelings.. "Friend" sometimes seems to weak of a word to describe what we feel for another...but we are bound by language...what you have written here goes over the line of human expression..The words chosen do what good poetry does...They take us beyond the verbal into the bright light of expressed emotion..that grey area that cannot be touched by language..Poetry is the map that shows us the way Thank you for taking me there. ________ice ><> |
