Marked eternal, languish trodden once the valley floors
Now risen to the heights of kings in sedimentary pours
And cast the faces of the ancient life once called away
Beneath our thriving moment and held suspended prey

From shell to shape unique landscape, a timeless corridor
now closed behind immortal drape of centuries restore
My hands trace steps impressed within an ever carving sketch
Moreover to remind the noble kind of times most sweeping etch
Where cracks do creep in lava seep onto the earthen shore
And creatures crawl their dens to sleep beyond the ashen soar.
For lives are left upon the mud, impressed by nature's seal
And in their fossils from their blood, they'll petrified reveal.

Time has taken from our eye, their dance throughout the ages
For ash now covers where they lie, as climates change in stages
Years have passed in millions now, a time once here now covered
And from the stones footsteps do trace a journey now discovered.
Tinkering with time and transient layers eroded in their show
How could the ages ponder life or ever wake to know
That here the finest lines revere creation to be screened
As if the last breath drawn fell silent an immortal leaned

Wonderful write, thank you both. Love your considerations .... just this morning I watched amber images and had similar feelings while discovering what age had forever sealed in there!

Love, Margherita

Every time we get to write together, I remember how much your poetry has taught me, and how much your friendship has guided me.
You Poet, are a gem indeed.  Thank you for this.

Kay,  you are always too kind to me...but,
you write splendidly...each venture is a
new journey ...  each journey ... a new
and wonderful experience in poetry....thanx
bunches for always being there,  and thanx

You read before you words I write-
See before you my soul,
spinning on  waves of thought,
painting memories of time

TD & Magus -- I couldn't tell where one stopped and the other began -- good work -- seamless!  Very interesting poem, as well!
