o these wanderings I curse
as I kiss a river's dredge
muddied maps
of veins in clay
just beneath - a curve of toe
clinging like a monkey's paw
to the edge's feed of me
trying to walk the inbetween
creature
of the air
digs holes
wrestling with mortality
dropping scales
growing wing
sneaking
to the backstreet bars
an alley
being quick proceed
wary are the shadowings--
furtive is a gasp of air

ancient

is the lamp of light
and timelessness
defines despair
ratherings
I still had gills...

knowing
only

that I stand.

(smiles) Then jump in the drink and come explore the abyss of what can be and what will be, yay! (big angel hugs) Time for ratherings to take place, God Bless You, I love this, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I see your evolutionary ponderings go on...
Excellent write K.  Thought I read a bit of "chemical desperation" in the raw feel of this, probably just me...lol.

serenity...Sometimes it's hard to grasp hold of the right words to comment on your poetry, but I want you to know that I think you're very special!

and sometimes I wonder if your internal rhyming is intentional, or if you're doing it unconsciously...  but, either way...  very nice.  *grins*

my grasp of your reality seems so tenuous.  slightly amazed.

at Duncan, "chemical desperation!" or is it pondering of hops?  Either way you think out loud kinda cool actually.  I am a bit lost this time but no matter, as to me it certainly sounded like you were thinking about a drunk fish and that was a neat thing actually. yadayadayada

gasp of air is right! this kinda tumbled out and down the page... but... and i hope you don't take this poorly... it reminds me of Don Knots.

The Incredible Mr. Limpet comes to mind. I know it's not a "humorous" piece, but that's what i felt.

*chuckle*

C? I've been waiting for you...and yanno?
I LOVE The Incredible Mr. Limpet!

It is truly one of my favorite movies, and I have been compared to the fish character before (it has something to do with my apparent ability to BOOMERANG with my voice--I can scare the hell outta people sometimes)

and some of these interpretations are so on the money for aspects of myself I hadn't intended to show--but I confess I actually wrote this in about two minutes, it was one of those meditative exercizes that I do--

based on this card of the major arcana:
http://www.facade.com/tarot/description/?Deck=rider_waite&Card=15

And yes, it is about maintaining balance in the midst of personal change (or yes, Dunc, evolution) and the fish analogy was both apt to the process of evolution and allowed me a small giggle too, as I have been known to be able to "drink like a fish".

*wince*

Peace, good poets.

I love this place again.
