Have you ever imagined
what it must be like
to be birthed?

Spewed forth,
alive and fertile.

The continuation of mankind
traversing caverns,
rich and moist,
bouncing off of each other
like atoms.

Our sight blind to them both.

Or possibly
this creative process
is similar to that of a child.

Gripping pencil in fist
intent and tracing,
a carbon point
through a maze
of Jack and Jill.

When I think of the human race
and how we came to be,
I often picture
hoardes of Salmon
swimming upstream.

Defying the current,
pushing
fresh and pure
upon their weary brow.

It is within this journey
that atoms collide with Jack and Jill.
Hastily running downhill,
falling into a stream
littered with the monthly purge
of our sons and daughters.

I bet that even Our Creator
had not surmised
such an explosion.

Like volcanic rise of steam
from a pot of bubbling protein,
ready to flow
above the outer rim,
pouring onto the stove
extinguishing flame
announcing that

NOW

dinner is served.

And I ponder such journeys
not unlike the one
taken now.

With each rise
of hand to plate to mouth
dripping with Merlot,
rich and red.

Thickly seasoned with sauce,
sparing my Tagliatelle
from lying
still and naked
upon my plate

ashamed in their purity.

You had me from this very beginning, sweet Suzie Q!!
I went rushing through reading to see exactly
where you were going with this one......I wasn't
disappointed. Then, I read it again slowly to let
it all sink into my brain. You are such a talented
writer, my friend.
Hugs to you, LittleOne,
Ethel Mae

Psssstttttt!! I sure have been missing you
around here.

I loved this susie--I've been pulling mental threads lately too. (it's woolly in there)

We absolutely must talk soon.

(a pot of bubbling protein?)

um, heh heh.

I want to hear all about it!

If I could write just one poem like "Up the Downed Stream", I could quit writing forever and be at peace with myself.

If I bow any deeper, I'll break in half...

Dear Sue, to immerse in your poetic creations means to go on a philosophical journey.

As messed up as my mind is, I would NVER have thought of writing about this topic... and had I thought about it, I would never have done it from this angle... and, no matter what I had done, could never have done it this well...
Please don't make this the last one this week...

But now the animal is in pain...
And now it's starting to rain...
But I'm still the same.

"Have you ever imagined

*laugh*

I watched it this life.  Years ago I told my poor demented mother.  I described the room, the doctor, the nurses; it drove her further around the bend I think.  She always had called me satan's spawn, I think telling her just convinced her even more that she was right.

Your poem is wonderful and I missed it somehow.  I am glad I got to read it.
