Historical roads once taken
Tend to repeat themselves
Regardless of how mistaken.

Rewinding pages, Indian days,
Settlers encroach, impressions, new ways;
Hearts knowing true their way before
Intense conflicts burning arrowed war.

She once read of a man, Johnny Logan,
Feeling his life, how it had been rasped;
A young captive to settler whites
Assumed new culture, never asked.

A hostage to a foreign tribe,
But growing of love despite;
Seeing books come alive,
"Settling", growing appetite.

Although appreciated new plight,
He cursed it as well,
Longing for his mother tribe.
(Later he became Indian spy.)

She flipped history pages to present days
when a settler encroached, his impressions made
Upon heart prier known;
Intense conflict burning hot, cupid's
arrowed war.

Though appreciated plight
She cursed it well,
Longing for her mother tribe.

You know me...anytime a poem involves history
I am captivated....no pun intended.
Thanks, Larry

Hey Sadelite. This is a good piece. Great read my friend.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

(big angel hugs) It saddens me to see the tribes become so individualized of the Anglo-Saxon influence, sweet friend, cultural diffusion can bring blessings but also tears and this is one of the greatest tears I endure being of a Cherokee ancestry! (sad sigh) I too pray the idelas won't be forgotten as those of the tribe are independent, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sadelite, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
