Wrinkles remain
Defiantly ignoring
The optimistic claims
Cosmetics make
Life struggles
Have eroded youth
And carved memory canyons
Deep enough to echo
Rejuvenating creams
Slip into sighs of
old...
       old...
              old...

Pastel powders in subtle shades
Enhancements on tired eyes
Are easily removed
But the shadows within
Grow darker without warning
And tear ducts leak longings
Last voiced long ago.

Too much padding covers bones
That creak and complain
Providing perpetual discomfort
And accurate weather forecasts
This isn't the me I wanted to be
And I turn from the face
Not even a mother could love

But you do.

And reflections of mirror
Whispers from the past
Candles on birthday cakes
And the worst of work days
Become meaningless measures
When your arms open for me
And your heart beats want.

Aging skin and aching joints
Knotted veins and
Spots that once were not
Fade to unimportant
Cells sing the joy of renewal
As weary disappears and
Wrinkles crinkle into smiles
I taste your kiss
And I am young again.

Oh, yes, suthern, I know this!!
And, I love this part right here, too.....

Too much padding covers bones
That creak and complain
Providing perpetual discomfort
And accurate weather forecasts

Isn't that the truth?  LOL

guess in my mind, the 3 of us will always be 'thriving' and we will never get old...just as long as we don't look in the mirror *smile*
this is a wonderful contrast of emotions lady and it says wonderfully how important that feeling is "I want someone to grow old with"
beautiful work my friend

Let's see...(thumbing thru the yellow pages for Plastic Surgeons)...here's one!...Wrinkles Are Us.....yep, that should work....I see where Balladeer and LongJohn are trying to find someone to do breast enlargements?.....Some people are just really not happy with their general appearance......
Really good write gal....and a big thank you for making me look in the mirror..and another big thank you for making me realize how bad of shape I'm in....

Martie: Even love can’t make this gal beautiful… but new is pretty wonderful… and feelings count as much as looks, right? *S* Thank you very much! *S*

garysgirl: All too miserably true… LOL… My hip did NOT like the change in weather systems we got last night! LOL Thank you very much! *S*

Seymour: It does indeed, my friend. *S* Thank you very much! *S*

jellybeans: Well… you and Toe can thrive as you look in the mirror… I’ll just stand around and turn green and make nasty comments about… abundant hair? LOL Yes… when you want to grow old with someone, “old” isn’t an issue anymore. *S* Thank you! *S*

PS: There’s a sucker born every minute… I just gave several of them some time off. LOL  Thank you! *S*

Marge: That’s Delaney’s Kool-Aid you’re sipping, gal! *G* But I like your confusion. *S* Thank you, dear lady… so very much! *S*

Toerag:  I’d have to win the lottery to be able to afford even a face fix! LOL And if you think YOU are in bad shape… why no wonder you run every time I’m anywhere near! LOL Thank you so, my friend. *S*

M’toe: You are dear… and I hope your wait is rewarded with a love that will last a lifetime… you deserve no less. *S* Thank you!

Kie: Thank you so very much… and welcome to Passions! *S*

JM: ROFLMAO @ brother AND oil of old lady… you are too much! *S* Thank you so much… I’m glad you like! *S*

Ratleader: You ask "Real....or sensual?
Sensual....or real?" Perhaps slur the words together for surreal? *G* (Just as long as you don't think "sorry" fits! *S*) Thank you very much, my friend...

iliana: I didn't even get those grades in high school! LOL Thank you so much! *S*

allamericanjoe: Thank you very much! *S*
