Oh wildest of spirits, oh ghostly white dream.
You set out hunting under the pale moon and stars, on swiftly silent wings.

Twisting and turning, bobbing and diving.
Black eyes see every twitch, every scurry, in every weather,no matter what it brings.

Pouncing, victim despatched by centuries of evolution.
On white whispered wings, you fly through people's dreams, into the pin pricked curtain of midnight.

Roosting and resting, you sleep and dream perfect flight, as the rising mists of morn ascend into pale morning sunlight.

Have you seen jack-in -the green he taps his cain on the ground and signals the snowdrops it's time to grow.

Jack-
I have seen the "ghostly white dream" only twice in Pennsylvania, when more north was to much for it and it came south to escape  from its bitterness(a rare occurance) It truly is an amazing creature. I am glad to read a poem about it.

Ice thank you so much for your words, it realy gives me encouragement to read replies that are positive.

I have seen the barn owl, which is the owl i am refeing to many times.
Maybe your owl was a snowy owl? if so you were more luckier than myself.
Wildlife and nature is my passion.
tell me what would life be like wothout the glorious animals and creatures we share this planet with?
Who is not moved to see the sun shining through a perfect forest on a clear and pristeen morning, with splintered sunlight shining onto the wonderous beauty of wild flowers?

Jack.

so much beauty and divine essense lives within nature...maybe God's way of speaking to us, in all of nature's signs.

When I was a child, I saw a great White Owl once...and I will never forget the sighting...completely by chance, and yet, as I grow older, nothing is by chance.  Smiles and hugs...there is much greatness in your words.  Lovely write.

I must agree with ice,,,seeing one of these rare birds (no pun intended), here in PA,  is indeed a treat. Your nice poem lets us see one with the minds eye,,,,thank you

(does happy owl dance) Yay! Awwwwwwww, I have always loved owls and all living creatures since I was a little boy, sweet friend, both because my Native American ancestry took great pride and love in the spirits of nature and because I just think they are Gods creations and are sooooooo beautiful! God Bless You, sweet friend, they are one of many blessings of life, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
