And you think to yourself who knows beyond a doubt
the truth of your words uttered right out loud
so what does it matter whether fiction or folk lore
or merely a thought someone had once long before.

But someone up above, within, or at your side,
brushes past the veils of deceptions many lies
and steps into the light better able then to see
how glows the inner soul when you choose to speak.

It’s a bothersome ordeal for me always to decide
is this a lie, can I believe, or must I walk astride
and fall in step with what I hear and cross the chasm, rift,
created by the misuse of our most precious gift.

But when I look into your eyes I see no guiding light
and I must wend my way from your soul into mine
to believe the truth, perceive a lie, or shuffle merrily
uphill along an angled path that sucks my energy.

It’s a bothersome ordeal to walk so many miles
and land up facing east when north is my desire.
it’s a bothersome ordeal to turn my head around
and search amongst air particles for firm and solid ground.

A straight unbroken line with no outlines undefined
is no bothersome ordeal for brain waves of a mind
for always like a compass it leads me to the truth
and I can follow happily with no need of any proof.

But don’t bother me tonight; I’m tired and need to cry,
my body aches tell me I’ve walked ten thousand miles!

Helen

"But don’t bother me tonight; I’m tired and need to cry,
my body aches tell me I’ve walked ten thousand miles!"

I know this feeling...and wish you rest and renewal.  Hugs!

I am just a traveler looking for a home, finding I carry it around with me, and sometimes it's just too heavy.

Dear Martie, Thanks for the read and wishes.  One can only rest in the truth - a lie, be it one's own or another's is a most unsettling place and no matter how we move and turn we just can't settle in.

Hi, Grover,  Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment on one of my many stories.  I appreciate it.
