I think about the 14th,
that special day for some.
And can't recall the last of,
a time when shared with one.

Prepared myself in games of
those sensual tastes to place.
But never does that special time
arrive to this, my space.

No cards to wear the warmth of,
No words that make the day.
Different is just sameness
when arrows miss this way.

So I pretend, and write my words
and take them to that spot,
to leave behind a single rose
for one who had forgot.

There, I watch behind the scene
to see who finds my "left"
and always, there's the smile that shows
my words brought happiness.

This to be the third year,
new poem to create.
Once more that day, on  bench I'll be,
until the time of eight...

M

OK .... meet you here at 8....
we will see what kind of appetite we
can share with words of PASSION!

You bring the heart and I'll bring the arrows!

Craig..you made me smile....too bad you are so far away
Here is the poem I will leave this year, with a rose attached:

To Someone Special

As I press my words to page for you
I hope you understand,
the meaning behind rose of red,
left here by my hand.

I have no one to share the day.
Alone, I've been awhile.
But pleasure brought to me this way
becomes when you will smile.

And wonder who has left these words.
This poet with a rose.
It's meant to give to someone loved,
by you when this night goes.

Enjoy its meaning, for it's full
of loving meant to share.
This I leave for you who finds,
to know that I, One, care.

Hey, M, I enjoyed this so much.  To tell you the truth, I think there are a whole lot more of us romantics who aren't romanced that would ever be admitted!

aww what a great idea...
And I was just going to sulk all day...
Now I'll have to find something good to do.
Ah nevermind, sulking IS good lol

Really, this is a great idea, and well said

Dixie, Jo and Alyssa

I go to a particular mall that I enjoy.
Either treat mysef to a dinner at one ofthe restaurants there...or a movie or both

but then before the mall closes I lay the  scrolled ribboned poem and rose on the wooden bench when no one is sitting there and leave it behind...and wait for someone to see it and pick it up, read it and usually  smile. Then they have a present. A poem and a rose to give to someone.
(Usually it is one of the workers who probably didn't have time to shop for their special someone.)

And that way I am not really alone for the evening. Besides, I make friends easily and always end up talking with people.

(smiles) Awwwwwwwww, I love this, sweet friend, I believe that the love and romance must be expressed every day beyond the fourteenth, sweet friend, the fourteenth almost seems like the worst day now with how its commericalized, forget that, I'll just make the new day August 29, hehehe, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Maureen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

You capture so many memories, and almost
write your heart's history through your poetry.
Both poems are just lovely, as you are.

M - that is a wonderful thing you do!  I wanted to bump this back up to the top in hopes that other poets will read about the bench, the poem and the rose!  We'll call you the "masked poet!"  .....love ya, jo
