White linen
Hides the old oaken scars,
Then is smoothes
And becomes a fresh canvas,
Blue china
Surrounded by pieces of silver
And pedestals of crystal
Flowers of yellow and red
Little leaves of green.
All is ready for him to come
Preparations done
The kitchen is full of steam,
Where she will eat instead
Then away goes fine crystal
Stored new polished silver
Folding the day’s canvas
The feel soothed
Of those old table scars
Unhidden.

Gloom

In these days of ritual dieing,
I write of ritual living.
Mrs. C has been doing it for many years,
One of these things is a waiting and not served
Dinner for Two
Ready at Two

PG,
Very nice...  I've read this a half a dozen times today as i was strolling down the alley and finally just had to stop by to say,"great job" and to bump it up.  Lots of
depth here and fine imagery to bring it out.  I agree with Seymour.  It is one of the best lately.

'tis what I know of
the scars, hidden or seen,
that gives special pieces
their personality

I enjoyed your poem, Gloomers.
