Revealing Skies
©2004 C.G. Ward

saw a cloud in the sky this morning,
small, seemingly still.

looked like I could cover it with a thumb,
so I did.

it fit nicely,
this lonesome cloud,
beneath the confines of my desire,
but only a moment
before:
     c  h  a  n  g  i  n  g,
it floated toward a new shape.

I tried following it,
tried to keep it contained
in the image I first understood,
but it refused.

across the day it traveled,
morphing form after form after form.
no matter how long I waited,
somehow it never managed to find
it’s way back to the original design.

took some time to realize,
like you,
it didn’t want to.

Your lines made me imagine putting my own thumb to the sky and waiting for it to change.
Trying to match it up agian but it never occuring...the end really shocked me because in my own life its the same way. Great write.

Sure!  Do you realize how many clouds there are in B.C. (the rainy province?) been twiddling thumbs all morning to try to catch one.  Seems they don't ever go back only forward like folks

This one C, I both understand and envy.
Might end up being a favorite.  Very cool image, thumb to the sky...chasing a cloud.

I liked the slow speed of this,
not that I don't like wild rides or anything.  Heh~

Thanks for all your thoughts to ponder.
Good stuff, Christopher~

Christopher, it is not often I see a piece you have written. I am always fascinated by the brilliance of your writing.

If the sun comes out tomorrow, I shall be chasing a cloud with my thumb.

Hugs, Marti

I take no credit for my poems. Although I write them, I feel
more like I transcribe them. It's just a matter of listening.
